Photoshop Tutorial

Using a photoshop tutorial on balancing light and contast in a landscape photograph i used an image i took in Barcelona a few years ago.

Which lacks contrast and the areas of shading under where the pillars are and the top of the large mosaque balcony lacked vibrance.

By duplicating the base layer and making seperate adjustments to each layer, starting from the top and working down to the bottom i was able to highlight specific areas of the image, for example the trees in the foreground and specifically increase the contrast and darkness of the trees. Then i continued working from the trees to the background buildings adding colour and saturation back into the picture to produce this:

Shutter Speed

Using a slow shutter speed function on a DSLR camera i was able to use a light in the dark and track the movement of the light over 4 pictures which allowed me to essentially write letters in the air. Using this technique i was able to spell out the word "LOL!"

Using the fast shutter speed function i was able to take a photograph of me and Marcus throwing a pile of leaves towards the camera, the fast shutter speed allowed us to take a photo which appeared as a freeze-frame of the leaves in midair.
These two different techniques using this Camera funtion allows for a more quick or planned use of photograqphy, which could be used in a qider range of situations, such as catching someone running.
